As part of our cultural activism, WCHA web series feature the arts and cultural scenes in Metro Vancouver mostly targeting the local Chinese language audience. As an art educator myself based in Vancouver, I envision this unique community building project. The videos serve as an entertainer as well as an educator. Our aim is to address the perceived issues around Chinese newcomers to Canada, such as indifference to arts, lack of engagement with the locals, dispassionate towards their surrounding communities. Regardless the truth and false of these accusations, we focus on the effort to enhance the cultural living of these people. We hope that our videos would encourage more Chinese newcomers to cross the boundary and actively engage with the diverse arts and culture Metro Vancouver has to offer.
